In my last post I wrote about how I got involved with Hamzah Sheeraz, and his father, today I want to discuss this topic further as I am so passionate about it, helping a world class athlete it definitely deserves another write up.
At this stage in my life making money for the sake of it no longer excites me, what excites me, infact has given me a new lease of life is recognising talent and doing everything in my power to develop and cultivate that talent further, to recognise an ability in someone and provide all the necessary tools to elevate them to become the best version of themselves, to help take them to the next level and I believe Hamzah has the makings of an elite world class boxer!!
The inspiration and motivation for me now is about creating and leaving something behind that my children could be proud of, to make a mark on someone else’s life for the betterment of their future, and to really feel that I have given back in a positive way.
Previously in business I never looked at things as something personal, it was just about business, about making money or whatever else I could get out of it, but Hamzah Sheeraz has become personal to me, I’m driven to do so much for him to make him successful. I feel as though it’s my obligation, my duty to do everything that I can to help give him the ammunition that he needs, and right now I can happily look in the mirror and say that I’ve done everything that I could to try and help him.
Hamzah is one individual I have 0 doubts about, his level of commitment and dedication, his focus, his honesty, his desire to be successful, his desire to remain humble is immense. I guess I see myself in him, that spark that energy, that ambition, that humility, it’s really rekindled something in me, making me even more hungry to help him succeed, to make sure that I’ve not missed anything, to do everything that I can for him each and every day.
Infact, it’s motivated me to a whole different level, given me a new focus and direction, something different, something exciting. Boxing was an industry I knew nothing about, that I had to learn about, every day I am also in the trenches evolving, making new connections, every day is different challenging yet exciting.
I guess this is what I missed out on due to my sporting injury many years ago, having to give up on my cricketing aspirations, and now somehow, I have managed to get back into the world of sport and it has been something of a revival for me, seeing the comradery and team spirit again, it really has reignited a new fire and passion within me.
This also goes back to something I mentioned in my previous post, that real fulfilment comes from contributing and giving back, to make a difference in someone else’s life. I’ve done a lot of business deals just for the sake of a deal, but this project is about Hamzah, his growth, his evolution, his victory. It also helps that I love Hamzah’s character, infact anyone who meets him does.
I didn’t realise when I first started out on this journey that it would have such a major impact on my life, what I have managed to do for him I never realised I had it in me, I never realised I wanted to do it, I never realised I could do it, and because it’s something personal to me I’ve involved so many other people such as Terence Lazard my mentor, Dave Manasseh, Josh Barnett, there’s so many other seriously successful individuals that have met Hamzah through me, and they all have the same opinion, this guy’s the real deal, and they all want to contribute and help make him even more successful.
Now Hamzah has a whole world class team behind him, the amount of seriously well-connected individuals backing him, supporting him, cheering him, and we are all moving in the same direction, towards one common goal. We all speak about him and every one of us has a similar opinion, what an individual, what a pleasant guy to be around, polite, courteous, respectful, committed, all he needed was the correct structure behind him.
This level of involvement with so many high-level individuals is because ultimately, we all want to give back, we all want to make a difference, we all want to see someone succeed, we all have a common cause, it’s really great team spirit. This is what sports and sportsmanship is about, the team, to help each other, to pick each other up, to help each other grow, we all want to maximise the talent that we have seen in Hamzah so that he can become the very best in every way.
Hamzah’s also saying he’s never been happier, he’s now got peace of mind, he’s got a nutritionist, he’s got a dietician, he’s got Paddy his Mental Coach speaking to him regularly, this is so important and sometimes missed in the world of sport and I believe is a vital component for success, mental health as well as physical health. Again, this is what sets Hamzah apart, he took this approach on whole heartedly, some young people may not have been so willing due to the stigmas attached.
I was in London with Hamzah for some big promotional events recently and there were some very high-level film makers and stars involved, it gives me so much pleasure and satisfaction to see how much growth Hamzah has had. I was also in LA for a photoshoot with him, infact his whole new team were, and I see that Hamzah is happier, he’s more relaxed, he’s in better shape both mentally and physically. Everyone works well together and there are really great things in store for this young boxer.
He has an unbelievable opportunity ahead of him, and I made a promise that I wasn’t going to fail him, that I would do everything in my power to help him, but at the end of the day he gets in to the ring, he has to produce the goods, we the team are the cogs behind the wheel that try to make things run as smoothly as possible, but ultimately Hamzah is the star of the show, the one that has to perform and give it his all.
We have set the wheels in motion for something great here, and my goal, and the new team goal is to get him to the boxing levels of Canelo, a seriously big player in the world of boxing, and by the grace of God Hamzah will achieve those professional heights.
So, to round up, like I say in each post, never give up on your dreams, even in your darkest moments have faith and push forward, you will become a better more resilient person, and remember there is always light at the end of the tunnel and you never know when the tables may turn for you, turning your dreams into reality.
So, until the next post, keep moving, keep the momentum going and keep pushing ahead.
