I believe these 3 are all related and connected, belief to me is when you are 100% committed to do something, you believe that you are going to reach your goals, and then you put in the work and move towards them with total conviction and the attitude that this is going to happen.
Now a lot of people think they believe, the big difference in believing 100% and being committed 100%, as well as having that total conviction that I am going to do this, and I promise you a lot of people think they do but they don’t.
So an example of this is say with a sports person, let’s use Hamzah and boxing because I have spoken about him a lot on my blog posts, now before a fight or whilst training for a big fight he is 100% committed and he believes in his head that he’s going to win, now that belief cannot waiver, because if it does then he’s in trouble, yes there are times when things go wrong, and yes Hamzah won’t win every fight, that is just a fact of life, but I believe that if you go through the right processes, you will be successful.
So, with my own situation when I first started out, I worked in a pocket phone shop earning £12,000 a year and I had £5,000 in my bank account, now I had 100% conviction that this business deal that I was going to embark upon with a guy from Hong Kong, (that I hadn’t even met) was going to work.
I used up all my savings, I was being shouted at from my wife, my parents, to the point they were saying that if I lost the money how was I going to make it back? I must have been crazy right, well fortunately the risk paid off and I ended up doubling my money, and when I got that payment of £10,000, I remember it was a Tuesday, on the same day I used it all to buy another £10,000 worth of stock and sold it to this guy in Hong Kong, and now I doubled my money and had made £20,000.
I was totally convinced that this was going to work, and that I was going to get paid for the stock I was selling to a stranger on the other side of the world, and that even if I ended up losing the money that I would make it back.
Now most people would have played it safe and thought oh I could save my £5000 and just use £5000 to buy the stock, but because I was so committed and convinced that this was going to work, I went all in on it.
I think that the real successful people have this unbelievable belief within them, it’s only a few letters but 90 – 95% of people just don’t have it, they just can’t do it.
I also think that if you have this level of belief and conviction, the commitment will automatically come, but I think the desire has to be there too, that innate hunger, and then you go after it with everything that you have, perhaps that is something that you are born with, I don’t know, but I think that’s what separates truly successful people from people that are perhaps not so successful.
Look at someone like Elon Musk for example, he had so much belief and conviction in Tesla, in Space X, even when things were going wrong he kept going, he kept moving forward, and look where he is now.
I also have no fear, there is no hesitancy on my part, once I make a decision I go after it with all my heart. Some people ponder on decisions for so long, say for example in buying a property, by the time they’ve decided someone else has bought it and sold it. So unfortunately, in my opinion they don’t have real belief.
Now I am not saying that we are always right, there will be failures along the way, but I always say 8 out of 10 is your benchmark, we are never going to get every deal right, however if you remain consistent, with conviction, determination and 100% belief and commitment then you will be successful.
In saying that you still have to do the work, you’ve got to do your research and know what you’re getting yourself into when you go after a new opportunity or deal, you still have to be patient and do all the background work as well as any other work, you can’t get cosy and sit back and think just because I believe it’s going to happen, it’ll just happen. That is stupidity, but I do believe that once you’ve decided to do something you have to go for it and go in whole heartedly.
So, I will decide and never look back, I reflect on my decision-making processes later, but I never look back, whether it’s good or bad I’ve made the decision, I accept it and on to the next one.
Like I said I’m not going to get everything right, and also you’ve got to be sensible that some things you do may not work, that’s life and that’s fine, but you have to be brave enough to say look it’s not worth it, I gave it my all but for whatever reason it didn’t work, that’s not a problem, you close the chapter, you move on, don’t ponder and no negative thoughts.
I did my homework, I believed that it was going to work, I was fully committed, unfortunately it didn’t work, no problem, put it in the bin and move on to next one.
I always analyse and go through the process of what I could have done better, what I could have done to improve, what I could have done to make it work because I always want to improve myself as a person because life is evolution, we all have to grow and learn from our mistakes, we have to keep moving forward, but you can’t get disheartened.
So, I hope you liked this post on belief, commitment, and conviction, I may have done a post along these lines earlier on, but I believe it is such an important topic to be truly successful, that I had to revisit it.
So, until my next post keep focused and moving forward towards your dreams and goals.
